Can you use any CBD oil to cook food?

 

It’s no secret that nowadays CBD has become a widespread and in-demand product in the market. Many people are confused about the usage of CBD oil. Can you use any CBD oil for cooking? What should you keep in mind when choosing the right product for culinary?

This depends on the cooking process. Before choosing the oil which you’re going to use think about the food that you want to make. Does the recipe require baking in the oven, cooking in a pan, or sauteing where high temperatures are bound to be present? Or maybe it doesn’t need to be cooked at all, like a smoothie, salad, or raw dishes?

Not all CBD products will retain their qualities in high temperatures. For this reason, to not waste any CBD products, it’s better to choose an oil that can bear high temperatures without disturbing the effectiveness of the cannabidiol.

How does CBD oil react to temperature?

 

The oil should not be at a very high temperature, so it doesn’t lose its terpenes.

Industrial hemp is one of the plants that contain the most terpenes. In all plants, you can find these different compounds. Their task is to repel parasites and attract pollinators. However, terpenes are also antioxidants, that can fight inflammation.

These compounds give maximum benefit for your health when combined with CBD. Some terpenes can help fight anxiety, stress, cure diarrhea, high blood pressure, and even diabetes. The value of CBD diminishes when there are no terpenes. CBD starts to evaporate, when it reaches about 160oC – 180oC (320o -356o F).

For high temperatures, you can use special CBD oils, but if you don’t have them you can add CBD oil to the food when it has cooled down and is no longer hot enough to cause terpenes to lose their potency.

What amount of CBD oil should you add?

 

Even though CBD is not psychoactive like THC, it’s important to use a proportionate dose. The right amount of added oil will give you the desired results.

Just like with any CBD oil we advise you to start with a smaller dose and pay attention to the results. If you think it’s necessary, increase the dosage. As everyone processes cannabidiol differently, over some time by experimenting with dosages and foods you’ll understand what works best for you. The advised dosage depends also on the number of people that will enjoy the dish. If you’re cooking only for yourself, add no more than an everyday dose for one person. However, if you’re cooking for the family, friends, or a larger group of people you need to increase the dose. The required CBD dose will not unnecessarily exceed if you take into account the planned portion size.

Does CBD oil lose it’s qualities when stored?

 

When cooking with CBD oil, the allowed food storing period is reliant on the “best before” date of the CBD and other products. Still, the storing conditions require attention. Improperly stored food can cause CBD to lose its value.

You should store the used CBD oil and CBD foods in the same conditions as recommended. In order for CBD to retain its value, we advise keeping the food in a place safe from excessive heat, light, and humidity.

What foods can I prepare with CBD oil?

 

Cooking with CBD oil works together with any food. You just have to follow the previous suggestions about temperature and take the dosage into account. You can add CBD on a daily basis to various drinks, for example, tea or coffee.

A Minnesota University study states that cannabidiol binds best with fats. For this reason, it’s best to cook foods that contain healthy fats – they’ll help the CBD absorb in the body. Some of the products that contain healthy fats are different kinds of nuts, seeds like hemp seeds, olive oil, and avocado.

Avocado toast

 

CBD is claimed to be “The new avocado toast” because of its popularity. Why not combine both?

Avocado toast with CBD oil.

Ingredients:

 

2 slices toasted bread;

1 avocado;

salt;

freshly ground pepper;

1/2 tsp unrefined olive oil;

1 tsp fresh lemon juice;

few drops of adilCBD oil;

Preparation:

 

In a small bowl mash up the avocado with a fork until a thick paste is formed. Add lemon juice and mix well.

Split the mashed avocado in half and spread on two toasted bread slices. The bread can be toasted in the oven, as well as on a pan or a toaster.

Finally, mix olive oil and add a few drops of adilCBD oil and drop over both avocado toasts, add some salt and pepper. The avocado toasts are ready to be served!

Chocolate granola bars with CBD

 

This is a great and healthy way to calm your sweet tooth. These bars can be prepared for a longer time period and stored in the refrigerator for a daily energy dose.

The preparation process is basically the same for both varieties of these bars.

Chocolate granola bars with CBD oil.

Ingredients:

 

1 cup of almonds;

1 cup of walnuts;

1 cup of hazelnuts;

1/2 cup of peeled pumpkin seeds;

1 & 1/2 cup of rolled oats;

80g of dark chocolate;

1/2 cup of flaked coconut;

1/3 cup of roasted hemp seeds;

150g dates;

2-3 tbsp of honey or maple syrup (for a vegan option);

3-4 pipettes of 500mg adilCBD oil

2 tbsp of coconut oil

Preparation

 

First and foremost, to make the bars more flavourful, we’re going to toast some of the ingredients. Pour the chopped almonds, walnuts, hazelnuts, pumpkin seeds, and the rolled oats onto a sheet pan. You can mix the nuts and the oats and try to spread it evenly on the pan. Then put it in a preheated oven at 180° for about 10 minutes. Keep an eye on them though, because the oats do tend to burn quickly.

Meanwhile, make a smooth paste out of the dates with the help of a food processor.

Chop the chocolate bar with a knife (you can also use chocolate chips instead to make it more simple).

After you take out the toasted oats and nuts from the oven, let them cool down. Then pour it in a big bowl and add the flaked coconut, hemp seeds, chocolate, and stir it all together. Hit it with a little drizzle of honey and mix in the date paste and the coconut oil. At last but not least, don’t forget to add CBD oil.

When it comes to mixing all the ingredients together, don’t be afraid to use your hands. The mixture gets pretty sticky, so using only a spoon might not be enough.

Once it is all well combined, pour it out into a baking pan lined with parchment paper. Press it tightly into the pan and put it into the freezer for 20-30 minutes. This will help the granola bars to set so that they are easier to cut.

Now you just have to turn them out onto a cutting board and cut them into bars.

You can enjoy them straight away or store them in the fridge and have them as ready-to-eat snacks.

Peanut butter granola bars with CBD

 

Peanut butter granola bar with CBD oil.

Ingredients:

 

  • 1 cup of chopped almonds;
  • 1 cup of chopped walnuts;
  • 3/4 cup of chopped hazelnuts;
  • 1/2 cup of flaked coconut;
  • 1/3 cup of peeled pumpkin seeds;
  • 2 tbsp of coconut oil
  • 1 & 1/2 cup of rolled oats;
  • 1/3 cup of roasted hemp seeds;
  • 2-3 tbsp of peanut butter
  • 150g dates;
  • 2 tbsp of honey or maple syrup (for a vegan option);
  • 3 pipettes of 500mg adilCBD oil

Preparation:

 

To prepare these bars you can apply the same guide as for the Chocolate granola bars. Simply use peanut butter instead of chocolate.

Cannabidiol is a natural compound that helps fight anxiety, insomnia, swelling, muscle soreness, and cramps. CBD oils can be useful to lessen and relieve menstrual cramps.
